Working Title; ”How ya like me now?”
Canadian Radio Icon Alan Cross (host of long-running Ongoing History of New Music, creator/proprietor of ExploreMusic) wasn’t s’posed to get me a job.
(We met years back and he was, in fact, super giving of his time and guidance with a show concept I was putting together) But it was pretty clear he didn’t feel like I had much business – not having put in my time at a WKRJ in Moosedick, Alberta – putting together and/or being talent on a show.
And yes… it turns out he was right.
Jesse Brown (TVO Podcast Host (Search Engine), Macleans New Media Writer and all-round plugged-in cat) was mostly – albeit charmingly – along for the ride as I endeavor to drag Alan down to my level with an unrelenting awkwardness.
When I’m not makin’ it weird, Alan, Jesse and I discuss fans who ruin it for you, Canada’s cultural landscape, the intellectual property cops and why CBC TV sucks so much compared to its big brother BBC.
